Letters

From the February 1997 issue of The Christian Science Journal

This is a quick note to compliment The Christian Science Journal on its splendid series "Mary Baker Eddy: a lifetime of healing." It was wonderful. The September article, however, surpassed itself, and I have added it to my daily reading. Mrs. Eddy's instructions to her students are so important for the movement today. As students of Christian Science, we should heed her timely words and pour ourselves into the healing work of Christian Science. This is what the world cannot help but notice, and will silence criticism. When we demonstrate that God is All, healing follows naturally.

The Journal series on Mrs. Eddy and her healing work reminded me of a brief experience I had in Tokyo, Japan, in 1952. I was working for a U.S. general who was in command of the military installations in and around Tokyo. When he learned that I was interested in Christian Science, he volunteered this story about Mrs. Eddy.
