My father's family found Christian Science at the turn of the century. My grandmother had had a mental breakdown and could no longer manage the responsibility of the family and the household. I have not been given a more detailed account of her difficulties, but even the youngest children were deeply troubled.
A relative had heard of Christian Science and recommended to my grandmother that she try it. The first time a Christian Science practitioner visited the house made a deep impression on the whole family. My grandmother was fully restored, and was from then on a pillar for the family for many years.
One of the daughters in the family immediately removed the steel braces around one of her legs and the specially made shoe she had worn up till then. She was convinced that the spiritual law that had been in operation in her mother's healing also applied to her situation. She could then walk without any trouble. She later became a Christian Science practitioner.
