HEALING

Every need already fulfilled

Spiritual restoration isn't a matter of waiting
for time to heal us.

From the October 1999 issue of The Christian Science Journal

A desire or need and its fulfillment seem to be two different things, generally separated by a time lapse. But from the standpoint of spiritual reality—in the perfection of God's kingdom—every need is already fulfilled.

Jesus said, "Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest." John 4:35 This is consistent with his statement that "the kingdom of God is within you." Luke 17:21 It was his consciousness of the presence of the kingdom of God that brought forth Jesus' instantaneous healings. The Bible also records that he once entered a ship and "immediately the ship was at the land whither they went." John 6:21 Through his pure spiritual perception, Jesus set aside the mortal concept of time. His need to reach his destination was immediately fulfilled.

Mortal mind, viewing existence materially, can't grasp the spiritual idea of immediate fulfillment. Through the beliefs of time, limitation, and discord, this supposed mind would make fulfillment bitter-sweet or postpone it altogether. Mortal mind insists that we must pay through stress, strain, fatigue, burden, and delay. But God is the one true Mind governing us, and this Mind reveals that harmonious fulfillment is natural and is available to all of us right now.
