WORKPLACE

Prayer and Line 10417

If the atmosphere in the office seems thick with deadline pressures,
spiritual inspiration can bring both calm and answers.

From the October 1999 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The young woman works in the computer field. But her situation at work was anything but a joy. The deadline for a major project was drawing closer. For weeks she hadn't been able to meet the interim deadlines. Let alone be ready for the final deadline. Her earnest and hard-working colleagues were working daily first till 7 p.m., then till 9 p.m., without complaining. Finally, the atmosphere in the office abruptly worsened. There were accusations and irritation; management ordered weekend work and put a moratorium on all vacation time.

God supplies us
with right ideas,
serenity, discretion.

She needed help, and she asked for it. In her company she knew a computer expert she could call on. But she also knew someone who could just barely find the computer's "on" button and was happy when he could save a letter without mistakes. He was the one she asked for help. Yet not because of his modest computer expertise! No, but because this man is a Christian Science practitioner, that is, someone who helps those with problems find solutions through prayer.
