Two years ago, while visiting friends one evening, I accompanied others to view their deck. As I turned to enter the house, I missed a step, and as I grabbed for the door to steady myself, I heard a crack. During dinner I helped with the table, but later I could hardly walk. I kept knowing that I was not hurt and that man is spiritual, not material.
I felt the need for more prayer, and asked to be excused. My husband helped me walk to the car, and then from the car into our house. Through the night I kept thinking about the explanation of man in Science and Health (see pp. 475-477), and also about "the scientific statement of being" (see ibid., p. 468). By morning I found I could walk, though cautiously, in the shoes I had been wearing the previous day. Later that day I attended a wedding and wedding reception without anyone noticing that I needed the support of my husband's arm more than usual. By the next day, Sunday, I walked on my own, with God's help, and enjoyed the church service. All was normal, and I have had no further problem with the foot.
I needed to pray
for myself and
trust God.
