The widow's might*

From the October 1999 issue of The Christian Science Journal

So, you think
might is not correct?
That it was indeed
a "mite," a mere pittance
compared to others' offerings?

Think again.
That offering was the whole
of her supply.
She did not withhold,
waiting for a more prestigious sum
to grow.

It was courage and devotion
that let it go.
If only that strength
we could know.
