FREEDOM NOW

Time isn't a factor in spiritual healing

Our God-given innocence, health, and usefulness are perpetually present—here to be expressed.

From the November 1999 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It doesn't matter how long one may have been sick, or enslaved by sin, or faced with any other discord. God's spiritual, healing law, understood, initiates healing and regeneration here and now.

The spiritual fact is that our true selfhood, as the image of God, is forever untouched by evil. The understanding of this fact acts to destroy the false belief that we are, or have been, a suffering mortal. Mary Baker Eddy shows the possibilities when she writes, "For man to know Life as it is, namely God, the eternal good, gives him not merely a sense of existence, but an accompanying consciousness of spiritual power that subordinates matter and destroys sin, disease, and death." Miscellaneous Writings, p. 189.

In every case of healing in Christian Science, some so-called material law of mortal mind surrenders to God's law, the law of divine Mind. By understanding our unity with God as His expression, we can rule out the aggressive suggestion that says time can stand in the way of healing. Each one of us, as God's idea, exists forever at the point of spiritual perfection. This means that we can never be separated from our God-given innocency, harmony, health, usefulness. They are a perpetual presence, and through spiritual sense we are forever conscious of them.
