From the November 1999 issue of The Christian Science Journal

From time to time the Journal will address questions on Christian Science treatment and practice.

Question: Does Christian Science require me to admit that what I suffer from is just in my head?

Answer: The ills of the flesh are more than just imaginary or psychosomatic. Pain, disease, injury, and so on are part of the whole material concept of life. In the Christian Science textbook, Mrs. Eddy explains: "Sickness is neither imaginary nor unreal,—that is, to the frightened, false sense of the patient. Sickness is more than fancy; it is solid conviction. It is therefore to be dealt with through right apprehension of the truth of being." Science and Health, p. 460.
