One Of The Most Comforting promises in the Bible has to do with God's great love. It is the reassurance that all things are possible with God. See Matt. 1 9:26 . This affirmation leaves no room for exceptions. Are you nevertheless believing that a difficulty you face is an exception to divine Love's promise? If you are, it may be that you're feeling the sharp contrast between the God-inspired message of the Bible and the convictions of a materialistic society. Many medical diagnoses, for example, are couched in language such as "chronic," or "treatable but incurable," or just plain "incurable." Such concepts were certainly not included in Christ Jesus' view of helping his fellowman.
The Master made it clear that God's promise is not abstract but very real to individual lives. He indicated that one's state of thought could open the door for healing. After his disciples had struggled unsuccessfully to cure a boy who had severe seizures, Jesus said to the father, "If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth." Mark 9:23.
Mary Baker Eddy's Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures is filled with spiritual insights that have healed many people of conditions thought to be incurable. It isn't unusual for media reports to refer to a disease as having "no known cure." It would be more accurate for a report to state, "There is no known cure. Except prayer and the power of God."
