LETTERS

From the April 1999 issue of The Christian Science Journal

One day, while I was waiting for my laundry to wash and dry, I figured I'd pick up a magazine to cure my boredom. I noticed an article mentioned on the cover of The Christian Science Journal that interested me. I resisted picking it up because I felt that Christians should rely solely on the Bible. The same thing happened the following week. On the third occasion, I gave in. I opened up the pages and started reading. I became so interested that I slipped the magazine into my laundry bag and took it home. The next week I picked up another Journal, and, a week later, another.

I must tell you that I had been feeling pretty confused. I had been searching for God, trying to find meaning in life. Now, Christian Science has given me the foundation I need, and the more I read, the stronger that spiritual foundation becomes. Your writings have given me a breath of fresh air, hope, happiness, and love.

I did appreciate receiving a copy of the Journal from your booth at the Los Angeles County Fair in Pomona, California. It is such a quality journal! What I read, reaffirmed my belief as a Muslim that the time has come for all right-minded people to unite on the things that they have in common. Muslims and Christians profess that there is only one God. We believe in divinely revealed Scriptures. We believe in God's messengers—His angels. I believe that by our working together within our respective communities, current conflicts in which Christians and Muslims oppose one another can be brought to an end, and future wars avoided.
