My call to Russia

From the April 1999 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In 1906, my husband was asked to undertake some work in Russia. We both felt it was a call to take Christian Science to that country.

When we arrived in St. Petersburg, we drove to the hotel. The very first Sunday, I said to my husband, "Let us hold a service and read the Lesson together." I acted as First Reader, my husband as Second, and we held a proper service.

As I walked through the streets, I declared the truths of Christian Science aloud. My husband said, "Are you not afraid?" I replied, "No, I am not; I was called, and I came to do the work in answer to the call."
