Appreciating one hundred years of spiritual insight and healing

From the January 2000 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Throughout the eventful course of the past one hundred years, The Christian Science Journal has been a monthly meeting place of practical, spiritual conversation and encouragement for those seeking to understand God and how His laws apply to every area of human life. In appreciation of the Journal's contribution to spiritual growth and healing during this time, we will reprint over the coming year selections from articles and testimonies for each decade of the twentieth century.

We called on ten readers and asked each one to scan a different decade of Journal volumes and submit to us some items that they found particularly helpful and that also might reflect in some specific way that period in history. This is not an attempt to showcase the "best" article or testimony—if you're a longtime reader, you may not see a favorite author represented. Rather, the goal is to give some indication of how the magazine has consistently filled the mission given to it by founder Mary Baker Eddy: "to put on record the divine Science of Truth."

We hope you'll find inspiration, and perhaps even an occasional tear or chuckle, in these snapshots from the Journal family album.
