WORKPLACE

Governed by God's law, not machines

What do you do if the systems at your work stop working?

From the November 2000 issue of The Christian Science Journal

THE COMPANY I work for was producing a large order for a new and very important customer. Delays in the design and material procurement phases of the project raised concerns that we would miss the production deadline. The machine being used to produce the order was untested. Nevertheless, under the circumstances we had to run it around the clock, seven days a week.

Nothing can interfere with God's eternal plan.

Early Friday night, as we turned over the project to our weekend crew, a major hydraulic failure brought the machine to an abrupt halt. The contract mechanic who normally worked on such problems was on his way out of town for the weekend. The problem appeared beyond the ability of our own workers to solve. It looked as if we were down for the weekend!
