One hundred twentyfive years ago, Mary Baker Eddy had only a handful of students to whom she taught her method of spiritual healing. She urged them to go out and heal others, and to sell her book. Although she eventually designed a church organization and established a publishing company to further these activities, the duty of her individual students remained the same. She continually instructed them to heal and to respond to the public's demand for Science and Health. Today many, many people who love Science and Health continue in the footsteps of these early students.
"In February of 1889 I was accepted in Mrs. Eddy's class of seventy. This was the March Primary Class referred to in Miscellaneous Writings. Just before leaving class, one of the class members asked if I would stop at Piqua, Ohio, to see a patient that he had been treating sometime. . . . I stopped there and decided to stay for a while. . . . During the one year in Piqua, I sold over three hundred copies of Science and Health, had two cases completely healed of cancer, one woman completely healed of total blindness who had been blind for a number of years, one case of tuberculosis, one case of a woman that had been a great sufferer and more or less of an invalid for four years after the birth of her last child came and had one treatment, and before she reached her home was conscious of perfect health."
