In January we began a series in appreciation of the Journal's contribution to the twentieth century. As we indicated in our comments at the beginning of the series, our purpose wasn't to find and showcase the "best" article or testimony. Undoubtedly, there are as many views of what the best might be as there are individuals. Rather, our goal has been to convey something of the Journal's consistency in fulfilling the mission given to it by founder Mary Baker Eddy: "to put on record the divine Science of Truth." Also, we wanted to present just a sampling of the spiritual insights and proofs of healing that have helped forward humanity's progress over the last century.
This month, in our final installment of the series, we reprint an article and a testimony from the 1990s. The article deals with the growing recognition of the influence of mental factors on the health of individuals as well as of society as a whole. And it points beyond this to the widening recognition of divine Mind—God—as the only Mind.
