Since My Childhood, I had put up with cold sores appearing on my lips. Over the years I decided that this occurred when my lips became dry after exposure to wind or sun. Also, as my mother had had a similar problem, I felt that the condition might be inherited. As a result, I carried sunblock and lip protection with me everywhere, and became very fearful if I found I had left home without them.
Then I began attending a Church of Christ, Scientist, again after many years' absence. I also began to study the Bible Lessons each day, and to apply what I was learning to my daily life. This study not only instructed and inspired me, but it had a healing effect.
After being out in the sun one day, I felt the old familiar tingle. This time, instead of fearing a recurrence of the cold sores, I decided to take a stand. I thought, "Oh, no you don't! I'm not going to put up with this lie. I'm not having it. There is no law of God that says I have to expect a cold sore. God's law is good."
