Obstacles to relocation overcome

From the March 2000 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Recently My Husband's office lease was going to expire. Seven months before the expiration date, we prayed diligently together, as well as with the support of a Christian Science practitioner, to find suitable office space. We claimed as already ours the spiritually based qualities that might be associated with the activity of an office—such as joy, accommodation, harmony, integrity—as well as the qualities involved in an equitable lease: honesty, cooperation, promptness, continuity, and justice. We recognized that since God is infinite good and we are His expression, we could expect to see evidence of good in a right sense of progress.

We decided to relocate our office within the same city. The very first office space we visisted was one that met all our needs perfectly and was available at the time our present lease was to expire. Since I was the office manager, I made all the arrangements for relocating, in addition to working with the management of both office buildings on their respective leases.

The week the relocation was to take place, I came down with a cold. Feeling that this was an outward manifestation of pressure and false responsibility, I prayed. I recognized myself as the spiritual reflection of God, under His wise control, and not a mortal working on my own, responsible for the outcome of the move.
