No one can read all that the Bible has to relate about Jesus and not be changed for the better. Just think of the power and authority the Saviour expressed when he prayed, "Give us this day our daily bread," Matt. 6:11. and then proved these words by feeding over five thousand people with only a few fish and loaves of bread. See Matt. 14:14-21 . And after telling a large group of people "Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted," Matt. 5:4. he raised a young girl from the dead and restored her to her family. See Matt. 9:18, 19, 23-26 .
These kinds of acts can seem incredible, almost too good to be true, when looked at from a materialistic standpoint. Yet Jesus surely would have been saddened if he thought that Christians in the ensuing centuries would think of his example as too monumental to follow. "As ye go," Jesus instructed his followers, "preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give." Matt. 10:7, 8.
