Testimonies of Healing

Infant's breathing difficulty disappears

From the August 2000 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Words are inadequate to express how grateful I am for Christian Science. I am a third-generation Christian Scientist, raised in a home where this teaching was our way of life. My husband was introduced to Christian Science when he was about fifteen years old. We both have had many healings through relying on God alone. We have two sons, and both of them have also had numerous healings through Christian Science treatment.

Our sons both delivered in the same hospital by the same doctor, who was familiar with Christian Science. They were born naturally, without any drugs or medicine of any kind being administered. During both pregnancies and deliveries, I prayed and also had treatment from a Christian Science practitioner. I studied and prayed with several passages from the Bible and from Science and Health. Two of the most helpful and comforting passages were: "Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven" (Matt. 5:12) and the paragraph in Science and Health next to the marginal heading "Scientific obstetrics" (see p. 463). I committed these two passages to memory, and they helped to sustain me throughout each birth.

Two weeks before our first son was born, the obstetican told me to call the practitioner, because the baby wasn't facing the right way. At the next checkup everything was fine and normal. Our first son's birth was very harmonious.
