"What do you expect? I'm only human." This response, often uttered in a matter-of-fact way, sums up a fundamental conviction about life—that by our very nature we're limited, and that imperfection, failure, and disappointment are an inescapable part of existence.
But there's another view of life that counters the despair of believing that failure, disease, tragedy, and so on are inevitable. It's not a physical but a metaphysical standpoint based on a Bible-inspired understanding of the perfection and goodness of God. It's practical spiritual truth, which offers healing, regeneration, and joy.
Christ Jesus pointed to this truth and expressed his expectation that we could prove it when he said to his disciples, "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect."Matt.5:48.
