At peace about family

A wedding brings deeper insights about parents and children, history and heritage.

From the January 2001 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Prayer brought a particularly inspiring and peaceful focus to my thoughts prior to a family wedding early last year.

The family was happy about the upcoming union. Yet there was some concern, because families who had gone their separate ways would be attending the wedding. As I prayed to know how I could contribute to smooth outcome, this passage from Science and Health came to my attention: "May Christ, Truth, be present at every bridal altar to turn the water into wine and to give to human life an inspiration by which man's spiritual and eternal existence may be discerned."  Science and Health, p. 65.

It was important to me that I be especially aware of the presence of Christ, Truth, on this occasion. I knew Christ to be a healing force—the voice of divine Truth speaking to human consciousness. Listening to Christ would not only give me comfort; but everyone present at the wedding would feel it. Like a sweet aroma that fills a room, the beneficial influence of Christ can't be contained.
