Testimonies of Healing

Broken hip restored without surgery

From the January 2001 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Some time ago I had a severe fall. I was helped up from the floor, but was unable to walk. I called a Christian Science practitioner for treatment, and I got someone to take my place that day in the Christian Science Reading Room, where I am librarian. The next day I still was unable to walk and was in a lot of pain. I had X-rays taken, which showed that I had a fractured bone in my hip. The surgeon did not recommend that I have an operation, but asked that I visit every six weeks so that he could monitor the situation.

My first thought was from Science and Health: "The prayer that reforms the sinner and heals the sick is an absolute faith that all things are possible to God,—a spiritual understanding of Him, an unselfed love" (p. 1). I knew that I had to trust in God. "God is Love. Can we ask Him to be more?" (ibid., p. 2)

I'm as active as I was before the fall.
