From Salt Lake to Rome— THE GLOBAL CHAIN OF SPIRITUAL AWAKENING

From the June 2003 issue of The Christian Science Journal

People from all over the world attend conferences like the one in Bethesda, Maryland. In March 2002 Christina Sloan, Italian Committee on Publication for The First Church of Christ, Scientist, attended the Harvard-sponsored Spirituality Healing in Medicine conference in Salt Lake City, Utah. "This was so exciting and really opened my thought to the receptivity that many doctors and nurses have to spiritual healing and God," she said. "The focal point for the whole week was everyone's love of God."

Christina returned to Italy with new ideas about how to contribute an ever-expanding global chain of spiritual awakening.

She learned that a similar conference had been held in Italy four years earlier. After she read the papers that had been presented, she contacted Dr. Leonardo Antico, the author of a paper she especially liked, and one of the most respected doctors in Italy. "Dr. Antico is practitioner and professor of medicine at the prestigious hospital and medical school Polyclinic A. Gemelli in Rome. We met and talked for three and a half hours, and I told him about the Harvard Symposium. I also told him about Mary Baker Eddy's book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. I wanted to give him a copy, but he insisted on buying it from me! He referred me to several colleagues who also believe in the efficacy of prayer and mind/body healing."
