I learned about Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy through self-help books that mentioned it. A friend who was very interested in metaphysics told me that Christian Science presented God as the only power—omnipresent, omniscient, and omnipotent. Since that's what I believed, I visited a Church of Christ, Scientist, and bought Science and Health and a concordance to this book to help me study it.
When I began reading it, I felt I had found the answer to my questions, especially a direct access to God, who is Love and does not punish. My life was transformed in many ways. It was striking to discover that heaven is a state of consciousness, not a place. From this I learned that to live at peace with myself and others, I have to strive for a state of consciousness that's free from fear, believe only in good, and acknowledge that God has already created me spiritually with everything I need.
Learning how to heal myself quickly and permanently was also very impressive.
