We were right in the middle of lunch when our math teacher told us to get away from the windows. We wondered what was going on. Everyone moved to the opposite side of the room, and we continued eating until we heard a message from the loudspeaker that said, "All teachers: Make sure that all of the lights are turned off." It was a dark, rainy day here in Oregon, so it was hard to see once the lights were out. This was becoming a bit weird.
Then we were sent to the science room on the third floor of the building. And all of the doors were locked. The teachers said it was because there were people walking around the building with guns. And they thought we'd be safer on the third floor.
When we got to the science room, everyone was panicking and talking loudly. But instead of getting scared, I started praying. Sometimes, I have not been the bravest person in the world. For example, I like to have a parent go to my room with me when it's dark and I go to bed. So I was surprised at how safe I felt when I heard this scary information.
