Beatitudes Project

From the October 2004 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The preteens in Chet Manchester's Sunday School class in Newburyport, Massachusetts, made a video.

"Children are sparkling wells of wisdom and intuition—not empty vessels waiting to be filled up with knowledge," says Mr. Manchester. "Sunday School teaching is an adventure in tapping the innate spirituality of young people and cheering them on as they express their gifts and God-given individuality.

"One of the ways we've been doing this in our Sunday School is through a participatory video project called 'The BE-attitudes.' The preteens in my class have been helping to script, shoot, and edit a video that illustrates how Jesus' Beatitudes See Matt. 5:3–12 . in his Sermon on the Mount translate into everyday attitudes that are really about BE-ing God's children.
