ON MONDAY, JUNE 5, 2006, Christian Scientists around the globe from Africa to Australia gathered in Boston at The First Church of Christ, Scientist, for its 111th Annual Meeting. Thousands of other Christian Scientists around the world joined the meeting via Internet, from homes, Internet cafes, and Christian Science Reading Rooms and churches, to hear about the vital role of Christian healing in the Church.
The meeting began at 1:00 p.m. inside The Mother Church Extension after an organ prelude. Pink and fuchsia azaleas framed either side of the speaker's platform, lending their color to the buoyant, peaceful atmosphere.
Afterward, two special presentations followed, "Christian Science practice and nursing" and "Youth."
