MARIAN C. ENGLISH, C.S.B., of Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA, has been elected as President of The Mother Church effective June 19, 2006. She will complete the one-year term left vacant by the passing of our dear friend and colleague David Reed.
Marian was introduced to Christian Science through a good friend who shared with her a copy of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. She found hope and healing answers to many lifelong questions in this book and quickly became a serious student. Eventually, she exchanged her career as a professional musician for a new career as a practitioner of Christian Science healing.
As a member of The Christian Science Board of Lectureship for nearly a decade, Marian has traveled throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe, speaking at healthcare facilities, continuing education programs, prisons, detention centers, homeless shelters, and retirement homes. She has given numerous radio and television interviews in her lecture work and has been a contributor to the Christian Science periodicals.
As President, Marian will support in various ways the theme of this year's Annual Meeting, "A Church of Healers."
