LETTERS

From the May 2009 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The "Worthy Activities" article in the March Journal ["Worthy Activities: Background of Two Church Manual By-Laws," p. 18] is a wonderfully clear, comprehensive, wise, and timely answer to a question I had regarding the Manual By-Laws entitled "Joining Another Society" and "Church Organizations Ample." Thank you for the blessing of yet another illustration of the untapped potential of The Mary Baker Eddy Library for the Betterment of Humanity. I am deeply grateful for the guidance this Journal article provides.

A letter by Leigh Zaremba in the March Journal [p. 7] expresses a fervent desire for more openness and welcoming from branch churches, along the lines of what was reported in a previous Journal. The writer describes some painful past disappointments about church—a culture of rigidity, criticism, and coldness. I can relate to these descriptions, having also experienced some of the same thing. My heart went out to the writer, even while feeling that this has been healed in my own church experience where the dynamic possibilities of Church are continuing to unfold.
