In 2008 I traveled abroad to Tanzania and Kenya, where I was extremely grateful to have Christian Science.
I was thrilled to go on safari and see incredible animals and birds, but also had some anxiety over the warnings I’d received about malaria and sleeping sickness, as well as about the political situation in Kenya. In fact, one of the couples in our group had cancelled their trip out of concern for the political unrest.
Nonetheless, I prayed for direction, and felt the trip should not be limited by these fears. My time overseas was at first filled with joy, harmony, peace, and incredible views of God’s glorious creation. But, in spite of wearing Buzz-Off clothes and applying insect repellent when I thought the risk of bites was high, I was bitten by mosquitoes and tsetse flies.
