Book Review

A new daily Bible

From the June 2013 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In recent years, new translations and paraphrases of the Scriptures have proliferated like new cars or roses, and there’s no escaping the debate over such ventures.

Now a new NRSV Daily Bible (HarperOne, 2013), has added some logs to the fire (not to mention 1,520 pages of paper). It’s available in paperback and leather, and is an authorized revision of the Revised Standard Version (published in 1952), which was a revision of the American Standard Version (1901), which embodied earlier revisions of the King James Version (1611).
