Shortly before I was scheduled to fly to a highly anticipated reunion with my dad and sisters, a small, hard lump on the back of my neck, which had been there for about a year, suddenly increased greatly in size and hardness. I must admit that I had paid little attention to the lump up until this point. Now I was having trouble driving and sleeping. Pain and fear constantly clamored at the door of my thinking.
As I am accustomed to doing, I turned to God in prayer. I earnestly desired to learn from God what I needed to know to heal this condition. I also called a Christian Science practitioner to support my prayers.
I investigated the term hardness and found some helpful references, which I worked with on a daily basis. One reference is from the Christian Science Hymnal: “Healed is thy hardness, His love hath dissolved it” (No. 278).
