Several years ago, in the early hours of one Saturday morning, I awoke feeling the power of good at work in my consciousness. I knew at that moment that a Christian Science healing had taken place.
Over the previous three weeks, I’d had recurring bouts of illness. There were times when I’d arrive late to work or leave the office early because I’d suddenly feel weak and nauseous. Each day I’d pray with ideas from the Christian Science Bible Lesson. Though I don’t remember what I specifically prayed with, I knew from experience that faithfully studying the Bible Lesson would result in an awakening to the truth of one’s spiritual nature as an idea of God, Spirit. My trust in the healing power of that truth was unwavering.
One Friday afternoon, after I’d asked my supervisor for an “OK” to leave early, he suggested that I see a doctor. Though I didn’t comment on his remark, I took his suggestion seriously and chose to seek treatment through consecrated and persistent prayer with God as my Physician.
