Several years ago, a spot appeared on my lower neck. When it became inflamed and did not go away, I felt disturbed and decided to call a Christian Science practitioner for metaphysical treatment.
The practitioner recommended that I read Psalms 56:4, which states, “I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.” We learn in Christian Science that disease is never a reality to be battled but a false belief to be destroyed through a clearer understanding of God and His flawless creation.
On several occasions, Jesus told those he had healed, “Thy faith hath made thee whole” (Mark 5:34). Encouraged by this, I declared daily that God, the divine Mind, knows only my perfection as His child, and that I am always “accepted in the beloved” (Ephesians 1:6). I also took comfort in Mary Baker Eddy’s statement: “May the beauty of holiness be upon this dear people, and may this beloved church be glorious, without spot or blemish” (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 197).
