Every day I think a lot about Christian Science healing because I am a Christian Science practitioner, someone who through prayer and spiritual understanding helps those who are ill, injured, dismayed, perhaps disappointed, even brokenhearted. In my work I am constantly knowing it is God, divine Love, that heals.
One time I was asked to pray for someone who had faced similar issues I’d dealt with at one point. My heart went out to him. We spoke almost every day, and I would occasionally go to visit him. We would talk and read the Christian Science Bible Lesson together, which contains passages from the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, and he would say he was being helped. Yet there was no definitive healing.
As the months passed, my daily prayers (Christian Science treatments) somehow became less focused, perhaps somewhat mechanical, and I was sometimes hoping some phrase or sentence from the Lesson we read together might heal this man.
