Have you ever thought deeply about the spiritual significance of communion? I must admit I never had until a recent experience made me need to better understand it.
It was a difficult time for me. Household demands, many of them new and unfamiliar, required a great deal of attention as I learned to master them. Also at this busy time, two family members needed help and extra care. As these events collided with my busy professional life, I began to feel tired, weary, physically and emotionally drained, and unsure of what both the present and future held.
During this time of physical need and mental exhaustion, I was surprised to wake one morning with the final words of a poem titled “Communion Hymn” by Mary Baker Eddy echoing in my thought:
