For about two years now, traffic in and around the city where I live has increased considerably, especially motorcycle traffic. The motorcyclists always seem to be in a great hurry.
One Wednesday afternoon while driving a friend to a Christian Science testimony meeting, I made a left turn onto a street that led to the entrance to a public parking area. Halfway down the street, it occurred to me to look left. To my great astonishment I saw a motorcycle coming directly toward my door. The driver was already so close that a collision seemed inevitable.
I immediately stopped my vehicle and instinctively pressed my open hands against the car window, in what seemed to be an effort to stop him. The motorcyclist managed to stop just in time.
