I want to express my deep gratitude for having found Christian Science. It has been a source of inspiration and strength, and it has changed the way I see and live my daily life.
A few years ago, my husband and I traveled from Quito, Ecuador, to Miami to discuss a legal matter with a lawyer. That night I woke up and got out of bed. After I took a few steps in the dark, I hit my foot against the corner of the bed. I heard a loud crack and cried out in pain. My husband heard me and ran to the kitchen to get ice. He didn’t know what else to do to help me.
I thought I had broken my little toe, but immediately a question came to thought: “What is this ‘me’ that feels pain?” I was thinking of the paragraph in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy that says: “You say, ‘Toil fatigues me.’ But what is this me? Is it muscle or mind? Which is tired and so speaks? Without mind, could the muscles be tired?” (p. 217).
