Senior high school student. Senior professional. Senior administrator. Senior politician. Each describes someone who has achieved elevated status in their current field or position through acquired expertise and meaningful contribution.
However, mention “senior citizen,” and the response is very different. Frequently associated with feebleness, forgetfulness, and inflexibility, the term conjures up stereotypes of someone who complains of declining health, is unable or unwilling to learn, and seems no longer relevant or valuable to society.
