Living Church

What can I do for You?

From the July 2026 issue of The Christian Science Journal

What can I do for You?
What can I do for Thee?
What can I do for Thee, dear Lord,
I ask it now of Thee,
Thou hast done so much for me,
What can I do for Thee?

This verse was shared with me by a woman who introduced me to Christian Science many years ago. She wrote dozens of verses that spoke to her love for God and the importance of being grateful for our many blessings.

We all have blessings to count. I’ve found that when we ask God how we can best express our gratitude for what we’ve received, we’ll be led to take action, not just be satisfied with words. Perhaps we’ll be guided to attend church more regularly, serve on a particular church committee, share Christian Science more often, or go into the public practice of Christian Science healing.
