Shining in God’s goodness

From the February 2021 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The most productive approach to solving any problem is to make God the starting point. While it’s tempting to focus on the dark things that distress us, thoughtfully considering the nature of God shines a healing light on a situation that could otherwise seem difficult, maybe even hopeless.

Christian Science teaches that God isn’t a conglomerate of wrong and right, evil and good, darkness and light. God is completely loving and positive, and never withholds any of His goodness. In reality, there is only a single force, a single presence—the brilliant, loving all-presence that is God. Focusing on the sheer goodness of God, who is our very Life, equips us to think and pray effectively.

“We must not consider the false side of existence in order to gain the true solution of Life and its great realities,” counsels the Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy (Miscellaneous Writings 1883–1896, p. 65).
