From the Treasurer of The Mother Church Per Capita Tax , as provided in the Church Manual, Article VIII, Section 13, is due annually from "every member of The Mother Church," and "shall be forwarded each year to the Church Treasurer. " Payments may be sent during the year at any time between January 1 and December 31.

[As published in the Christian Science Sentinel, April 24, 1948] ANNOUNCEMENT Since the end of the war, we have been urged by many of our readers to provide a plan for delivery of The Christian Science Monitor by air as an alternative for those subscribers who wish to receive this newspaper as close as possible to its date of publication. Obviously the difference in delivery by regular mail and air mail is so considerable as to prohibit the assumption of this additional cost by The Christian Science Publishing Society, inasmuch as our present subscription rate of $14 a year barely meets, and in some cases does not meet, the cost of production and mailing to distant places.

FROM THE DIRECTORS As recently announced in the Christian Science Sentinel and The Christian Science Journal , a Radio Fund has been established through which individual Christian Scientists, branch Churches of Christ, Scientist, and Christian Science Societies may share with The Mother Church the expense of its religious broadcasts—extending now to several countries—and the nation-wide American network program, "The Christian Science Monitor Views the News," sponsored by The Christian Science Publishing Society. From small beginnings these two types of program have grown as their value was tested until they now reach many millions of people weekly, a large proportion of whom undoubtedly would not be hearing of Christian Science without them.

NOTICE [As published in the Christian Science Sentinel , March 6, 1948] Among the reports read at the Annual Meeting of The Mother Church in June, as called for by Article XIII, Section 1 , of the Church Manual, are included "general reports from the Field. " These "general reports" are based on letters received from the branches of The Mother Church, telling of their activities and special steps of progress during the past year.

CHURCH MEMBERSHIP AND INDIVIDUAL PROGRESS The following statement came to us from one of our new members: "Experiences have proved overwhelmingly to me the vital part that membership in The Mother Church plays in an individual's progress from sense to Soul!" This member evidently realized that affiliation with The Mother Church is one of the footsteps referred to on page 253 (lines 32-2) of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy: "The divine demand, 'Be ye therefore perfect,' is scientific, and the human footsteps leading to perfection are indispensable. " Twice each year applicants are admitted to membership by The Christian Science Board of Directors (see Manual, Art.

[As published in the Christian Science Sentinel , January 10, 1948] ANNOUNCEMENT The Christian Science Publishing Society has continued to experience the heavy increases in wage, paper, and other production costs which are still general in the publishing industry, and must now reluctantly make effective its first increase in the subscription rate of the Christian Science Quarterly in many years. Our readers are familiar with the increases which have been made effective generally by various periodicals in recent months.
