Annual Meeting 1995

In April 1895, the ordination of the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures as pastor of The Mother Church was extended by Mary Baker Eddy to include all branch churches. In commemoration of this significant development, each Christian Science branch church, society, and university and college organization worldwide is invited to hold its own special meeting on Monday, June 5, 1995—similar to the meetings held last year on the same day as the Annual Meeting of The Mother Church.

Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy contains healing answers for parents and children.

We welcome readers to submit convincing testimonies of Christian Science healing for publication. These accounts should be concise and persuasive, demonstrating clearly that Christian Science heals.

Reproducing or copying the Bible Lessons—what's "OK" and what's not The Copyright Office of The Christian Science Publishing Society often receives questions about whether it's permissible to make and distribute copies of the Christian Science Quarterly—Bible Lessons printed in a full text format. We thought it might be helpful to provide our readers with clarification on this point.

Items of Interest

From the Office of the clerk Church History It was June, and the weather had already warmed the city. A number of people crowded into the assembly hall to hear the sole speaker of the morning—a woman who spoke of a return to primitive Christianity, to the spiritual healing of sin and disease.

In the October Journal (see "Moratorium suspends federal intrusion on states' religious accommodations") we told of action in July by the United States House of Representatives (incorrectly described as the full Congress) temporarily to halt efforts by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to pressure states to remove laws accommodating spiritual healing for children. President Clinton signed appropriations bills containing the moratorium provision on September 30.

Following the example of Christ Jesus and his apostles, Mary Baker Eddy saw Christian healing as vital to humanity's salvation. Not since the third century A.
