About thirty-five hundred church members, guests, and members of the press—the largest Annual Meeting attendance in the last several years—filled virtually every seat in The Mother Church Extension on June 8. And there was a remarkable family feeling about this impressive coming together, which was marked by candid treatment of sensitive issues, extensive disclosure of the Church's financial status, and gratitude for signals of progress and achievement during the past year.
This year's Annual Meeting underscored The Mother Church's deep commitment to responding to the world's needs, and it shared the progress which has been made in fulfilling that commitment. The meeting pointed to our Church's vital role at a time when the need for reliable and safe health care has never been more apparent.
