IF the Christian of today turns to the Bible for comfort and healing, he will find in it a good many accounts of what are generally called miracles. He may think with regret that these miracles were possible only in the past; he may even believe that the power to perform miracles was a supernatural gift of grace bestowed on exceptional individuals.
HOW important it is that each individual understand and demonstrate constantly the nature, presence, power, and love of God! Indeed, this is the mark of the genuine Christian Scientist. It is for this reason that he studies each day his textbooks, the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.
THAT one must be born anew before he can appreciate the true idea of Church is self-evident. Christ Jesus told Nicodemus that he must be born again before he could see the kingdom of God.
UNDERLYING every Christian Science healing is the fact of God's allness and of man's spiritual sonship as His perfect image and likeness. Divine sonship is the precious heritage of man, maintaining him thoughout eternity as God created him, good and blessed of his Father.
ANYONE thinking of employment does well to consider the statement made by Mary Baker Eddy in "Miscellaneous Writings" ( p. 118 ), "Be of good cheer; the warfare with one's self is grand; it gives one plenty of employment, and the divine Principle worketh with you,―and obedience crowns persistent effort with everlasting victory.
TWO prosperous Christian Scientists were one day reviewing their demonstrations of true substance. While gratefully emphasizing the growth Spiritward, which the reflection of humility, spiritual understanding, and love had made evident in his life, one said: "When I first had a casual interest in Christian Science, I was, figuratively speaking, at the bottom of the financial barrel.
IN our rapidly changing world, moral courage is very much needed, for to the physical sense of things there is no place of security, no guarantee of safety, no certainty of refuge. However, moral courage enables us to face calmly the most disturbing situations.
IT is recorded in the tenth chapter of Matthew's Gospel that the Master, Christ Jesus, called together his twelve disciples and gave them power to cast out unclean spirits and to heal all manner of disease and sickness. He then sent them forth with the command to preach the gospel of the kingdom, to heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, and cast out devils.
" THERE was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe" ( John 1:6, 7 ).
THE saying, "You can't keep a good man down," expresses a vital truth, for in Christian Science we learn that a good man reflects God, good, who is irrepressible Love, irresistible Life. The qualities of God are reflected in one's consciousness and reveal those spiritual forces that bring forth healing, resurrection, and redemption from all the ills of a weary world.
