PATIENCE

From the September 1958 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"Let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing" (James 1:4). This verse seems to imply that one must, through patience, be willing to wait for perfection to be seen and experienced in its entirety. How soon perfection will appear or how long the waiting will be depends upon the spiritual effort which one makes and his willingness to leave old concepts for new ones.

Our aim, therefore, should be to utilize in our daily living the understanding we have of spiritual truths and to rid ourselves of mortal mind thinking. In our effort to do this, we need to exercise patience, for it is not always easy to let go of habits of erroneous thinking. In fact, many times we are unaware that we are victims of such habits.

All real action proceeds from God, who is Love and who is omnipotent and omnipresent. Our adherence to Principle, our spirituality, our love for mankind, and our patience toward all men are outward proofs that the spiritual idea of Love is appearing.
