Because of the purity of her thought and her receptivity to divine guidance, Mary Baker Eddy was able to make many wise provisions which have proved helpful to those who have accepted the religion she founded.
Mrs. Eddy knew that systematic study of the Bible and her writings would be of indispensable help to the individual desiring to increase his spiritual understanding. She also realized that because of the problems which confront mankind from day to day, a certain amount of time should be devoted to daily study.
To this end Mrs. Eddy set forth twenty-six subjects, each to be used twice yearly in the preparation of the Bible Lessons, found in the Christian Science Quarterly. She also provided a lesson for Thanksgiving Day. While these subjects remain unchanged from year to year, the Bible passages and the correlative citations from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy are newly selected each time the subject is used. Thousands of students of Christian Science bear grateful testimony to protection, healing, joy, peace, and freedom which have been manifested in their lives as a result of pondering these Bible Lessons.
