Poems

Beneficence

From the October 1958 issue of The Christian Science Journal

We cannot with unopened eyes
Or doubting heart
Know tender, constant care, nor see
In smallest part
How Love's impartial good pours forth
Abundantly.

But listening, those humble hearts
Find answer where
Pure gratitude wells up within
A silent prayer.
In simple faith, presence and power
Can be revealed
So radiant, pure, that sorrow, sin,
And pain are healed.

Held in eternal oneness, loved,
Sustained by affluence divine,
We hear the promise to His son,
"All that I have is thine."
