Mankind in general has always believed in the necessity of a dependence upon persons, places, and things for health and happiness—in fact, for existence. Christian Science comes to this age to reveal the utter falsity of dependence upon matter and to demonstrate with divine logic the self-completeness of man as the image and likeness of God.

As he studied the Manual of The Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy, the writer was interested in noting that our Leader has specifically provided for the teaching of Christian Science in Normal classes convening every three years, in Primary classes held yearly, and in Sunday School classes taught weekly. From his study, he realized that all who are thus authorized to teach have a truly sacred privilege.

In the Bible the word Spirit is given as a name for God; therefore it is so used in Christian Science. Because God is Spirit and man is made in His image and likeness, as we read in the first chapter of Genesis, man is spiritual.

In order to attain the state of mind that heals the sick and the sinning, we must accept and prove, at least in part, the fundamental truth which Mary Baker Eddy states in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" ( p. 276 ), "Man and his Maker are correlated in divine Science, and real consciousness is cognizant only of the things of God.

At the time of the completion of the Extension of The Mother Church in 1906, the incoming President in his address made these pertinent remarks (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, by Mary Baker Eddy, pp. 43, 44 ): "The world looks with wonder upon this grand achievement,—the completion and dedication of our magnificent temple,—and many are asking, 'What mean ye by these stones?' The answer is, The way out of the wilderness of human beliefs has been revealed.

Which of its many definitions is uppermost in your thought when you see the word "heart"? Do you think of the human heart as giving life or as taking life away by its action or inaction? In Christian Science we learn that man's life is spiritual, the reflection of the one Life, God. Hence man's true life is never in a human heart and cannot be affected by the action or inaction of the heart.

Mary Baker Eddy , the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, once wrote to a student: "A real scientific Healer is the highest position attainable in this sphere of being. Its altitude is far above a Teacher or preacher; it includes all that is divinely high and holy" (Mary Baker Eddy: A Life Size Portrait, by Lyman P.

The attainment of peace of mind is one of the most ardently desired goals. Many conscientious men and women in various fields are seeking to bring peace to mankind.

It is the practice and rule in Churches of Christ, Scientist, that the church edifice shall not be dedicated until it is fully paid for. Naturally the dedication of a branch church is dear to the heart of all the members, and they work hopefully and confidently toward this greatly desired goal.

Divine Science reveals that there is no discord in God. What a comfort it is to know this! In all-inclusive, infallible Mind, there is no inharmony.
