It is widely known that Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, established the precedent of dedicating Christian Science church edifices only after they have been fully paid for. When the Original Mother Church edifice was in the process of construction and her followers were laboring faithfully to supply the necessary money and to see that the construction work was not allowed to cease, our Leader inspired her followers to give evidence of willingness to pay the price of steady spiritualization of thought and life.
In speaking of Jesus' healing mission and its permanent dispensation through Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" ( p. 150 ), "Now, as then, signs and wonders are wrought in the metaphysical healing of physical disease; but these signs are only to demonstrate its divine origin,— to attest the reality of the higher mission of the Christ-power to take away the sins of the world.
Error seems very real and troublesome and tenacious sometimes. The truth appears to be shut out or trodden down, but in reality it cannot be; truth is never less than truth itself.
